Ukanc is a village in the area of the Triglav National Park on the west shore of Bohinj Lake, located right under the hills of the mighty Mt Pršivec.

At the end of the Bohinj valley you can really fell embraced by nature. Things to see and places to visit in Ukanc

The first place that you just must visit is the mighty Savica Waterfall. It is always a different and exciting place, to which you can get by climbing numerous steps. And right under the waterfall there is an excellent starting point for stepping in another world – the kingdom of the Goldenhorn (starting point for climbing Mt Komna or a steep trail through the Komarča towards the seven lakes of Triglav - Sedmera jezera).

Interesting history and numerous legends will give you a better insight in understanding this region. You can also see other remains: glacier moraine and numerous boulders, trees blackened by the great fire, cemetery dedicated to WWI soldiers, etc.

Among the natural monuments we can recommend the visit of the Govic torrent, which you can see at heavy rainfall (U Bohin' 'ma d'ž ta mvade), steep scree slopes under Mt Pršivec and a fairy forest on the north shore of Lake Bohinj.

During the winter the most interesting site is the high mountain Vogel ski centre with natural snow and offers magnificent views, which shall excite you also during the summer. The cable car ride to Mt Vogel is also a special experience, especially, if it is combined with a panoramic ride on tourist boat on Lake Bohinj.

In autumn, it is necessary to participate at Cows’ Ball in Ukanc, where you will be able to enjoy in great entertainment, see local cattle, herdsmen and women, try out great food and drinks and simply enjoy. This autumn celebration is a great conclusion of the summer season.
