Things to see and places to visit

Among the most renowned icons of Bohinj are most certainly the seven hundred years old St John’s Church with the famous stone bridge, and of course, the pearl of Bohinj – Lake Bohinj. Climbing fans must visit the Pod Skalco event place, which is also interesting from a geological aspect (Litophaga – date mussels that prove that this was a shallow shore of a former sea).

Aspired by the past you will be able to go on a journey through time, for instance: find out about the emergence of the Bohinj basin, walk along the trails of the hinterland of Krn, learn about the first climbers to Mt Triglav, walk along the paths of Črtomir as in the famous Baptism at the Savica, learn about the Goldenhorn legend and the development of Bohinj tourism, and much more.

You can also learn a lot more: you can see the second shortest river in Slovenia (Jezernica), enjoy in magnificent views of the lake and spend time in various interesting spots in nature. We recommend eco mobility (ride the electrical boat on the lake, walk or cycle – this will also be great for your well being).

During the winter the Pod Skalco event place turns into an artificial skating rink, if the weather conditions are right, Lake Bohinj also freezes (however, this does not happen very often, therefore skating on natural ice is at own responsibility, and in most cases even not recommended).
